Kakuma Reading Society

 KAKUMA READING SOCIETY; Is a society formed by young refugees  to help students those who are still in the school and those who finished in order for them to over come their challenges. Young people engages themselves in everyday activities which may harm them or inspire them also. The main reason why we formed this is because of the problem in the schools and the communities, problem of self-expression and difficulty in public speaking. As Kakuma Reading Society local CBO. We have done a researched and we found out that, majority of these youths in their respective communities are facing many difficulties in their lives such as lack of innovative skills  and knowledge, therefore, such situations lead them to anti-social behaviors like drug abuse, taking alcohol, random unwanted pregnancy and others bad action cases in the communities. So, as from the findings, majority of them are living under this bad situation. Based on our continuous investigations, we found out that, there are those youths who drop out of school and lose hope in life and there are those who have finished their secondary schools but, lack further education or job opportunity. However, majority of them become victims of the above situations. As Kakuma Reading Society (KRS) local CBO we had seen a gaps that need to be filled, and this can be done through educating them on life skills. The activities we want to cover are;

1.       1.Inter-school debate

2.       2. public speaking contest

3.       3. Mentorship and Education

4.       To training about ethic leaderships and communication skills

5.       Life skills training

6.       Conducting essay writing competition

 

KAKUMA READING SOCIETY is a community based organization that inspires, motivates and mentor youths in schools and communities.
